Mubeen lab is currently working to get an outreach started with local schools within the ICCSD (Iowa City Community School District). The purpose for this outreach is to increase the amount of high school students that go into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) related majors and careers.

The outreach is planned to incorporate a series of guest lectures which will tie together concepts taught in the class room with hands-on activities which promote solving problems using creative reasoning. As promoting a special ‘hands-on’ lecture, the majority of students attracted will be those already interested in pursuing futures in the STEM field, special emphasis will be placed to reach out to those who are currently underrepresented in STEM fields.

If you have any interest in the outreach program, please contact Monica Hemingway via email at monica-hemingway@uiowa.edu or by phone (319)-530-7541.
